Yanasi Bench

To Native Americans, the Bison or American Buffalo was a symbol of sacred life and abundance. The American Buffalo or Bison is a symbol of abundance and manifestation. The lesson learned by the Lakota is that one does not have to struggle to survive. This is especially true if the right action is joined by the right prayer. By learning to appropriately unite the mundane with the divine, all that will be needed will be provided.    Inspired by the strength and solid form of the American buffalo, our Yanasi Bench -(buffalo in Cherokee) features curved lines that are graceful yet strong.  This piece enhances any living space with its sculptured form and unmistakable function.  The Yanasi bench is handmade with traditional mortise and tenon joinery and is complemented by the arch of vegetable tanned leather straps that are hand stitched in waxed linen thread and accented with ‘X’ type stitching.
